For EU GBS External Reviewers

The Citation Standard for European Green Bonds

The standard identifier for pre-issuance and post-issuance reviews under Regulation 2023/2631. Establish citation standards from day one of the EU Green Bond market.

A New Market Needs a Standard Reference

The EU Green Bond Standard creates a new category of regulated extra-financial documents: pre-issuance external reviews of EuGB factsheets and post-issuance allocation reviews. These documents have no existing citation convention.

After 21 June 2026, all external reviewers must be registered with ESMA. The market will consolidate around a small number of registered firms. Now is the moment to establish how these documents are referenced — before fragmented conventions take hold.

How XFID Supports EU GBS

New Document Type: EU GBS Review

XFID tracks pre-issuance and post-issuance reviews as a distinct document type (EUGBS_REVIEW), separate from traditional SPOs. This ensures regulatory documents are classified correctly from the start.

Reviewer Attribution

Every review is linked to the ESMA-registered external reviewer and their analysts. Your organization gets a permanent XFO-ID, your analysts get XPIDs.

Factsheet Permanence

EuGB factsheets are required documents under the regulation. XFIDs ensure they remain accessible and citable regardless of issuer website changes. Version tracking detects post-issuance updates.

AI Classification

AI automatically classifies documents under the EU GBS regulation — pre-issuance reviews, post-issuance reviews, and EuGB factsheets are tagged and tracked as the market develops. Be part of the standard from the start.

Current EU GBS Coverage

XFID is already tracking EU GBS reviews from S&P Global Ratings, Sustainable Fitch, and ISS ESG. Issuers include Iberdrola, Terna, A2A, the Kingdom of Denmark, TenneT Germany, and Eurogrid. Coverage expands as the market grows.
