Frequently asked questions

Are XFID identifiers free to use?

Yes. XFID identifiers are facts about document content — they are open to reference in any context, including commercial products, regulatory filings, and research. There is no license restriction on using an XFID as a citation.

What does "downloading originals" mean?

Professional subscribers can download the original PDF or HTML file as it was retrieved from the source, along with archived copies of every version we've observed. This is particularly useful for audit, litigation, and compliance workflows.

Can my organization submit documents?

Organizations (issuers, SPO providers, banks) can apply for a contributor account to submit and claim documents. This is available at no cost — contact us or register to get started.

Is there an API?

The public search API is available at no cost for low-volume use. Bulk API access with higher rate limits, webhooks, and structured data exports is included in the Enterprise tier.

How is pricing determined?

We are in the process of establishing commercial pricing. Professional and Enterprise pricing will reflect organizational size, usage volume, and feature requirements. Contact us to discuss your needs.

What is the open citation policy?

We commit that XFID identifiers will always resolve. Even if the XFID Registry were discontinued, the algorithm for computing XFIDs from document text would remain published and any party could independently verify an XFID from the original document.
